IPTV provider or reseller: how to tell which one you are buying from
Most of what is sold as an IPTV service is not sold by the provider. It is sold by a reseller who bought credits from someone else, and who has no control over the servers your stream comes from. That distinction decides what happens when something breaks, and almost nobody explains it before you pay.
This page is about judging a provider rather than ranking one. Our scored shortlist lives on the main comparison; what follows is how to read any provider, including one we have never heard of.
Provider, reseller or panel
A provider runs its own servers and controls the channel lineup. A reseller buys credits from a provider and sells subscriptions under its own name; when your stream fails, it can only pass the message upstream. A panel is the software resellers use to issue those credentials.
None of these is dishonest. A good reseller with responsive support beats an absent provider. But you should know which one you are buying from, because it determines whether anyone answering your ticket can actually fix anything. The quickest test: ask support whether they run their own servers and where. A provider answers plainly. A reseller usually deflects, and that answer is itself the information you wanted.
The six checks that actually matter
Does it hold up at 9pm on your connection
Not at midday, not on their demo. Peak hours between 7pm and 11pm are when a weak provider reveals itself, and a 24-hour trial covers exactly one evening. Use it on the right evening.
Is the trial card-free
A trial that takes payment details is a subscription with a delayed charge. Every provider we test offers 24 hours without a card, so treat that as the standard rather than a favour.
Is the full price list published before checkout
Per month and per connection, visible without working through a configurator. A provider hiding the four-connection six-month price until the last step is telling you something about how it does business.
How long has it been billing customers
Prepaying a year to a provider launched this quarter is the most common way people lose money in this market. Registration dates are public and take thirty seconds to check.
Does support leave a written record
Chat is fast, but a ticket system leaves evidence. Open a real ticket during the trial and time the reply before you commit to anything.
Are the numbers internally consistent
If a provider's own pages disagree about its channel count, connection limit or catch-up window, nothing else it publishes is worth much either.
What not to judge a provider on
Channel counts. Self-reported, unaudited, and a lineup padded with dead feeds is worth less than a shorter working one. We publish the figures because you will compare them anyway, and we label them as claims.
Anti-freeze technology and similar phrases. Nearly every provider in this category uses the same wording. It describes nothing measurable and it did not predict performance in our testing.
Server counts. A provider quoting twenty-six edge servers is quoting a number you cannot verify and that does not describe how your own stream behaves.
